The Zeta Chi Chapter was chartered on November 29, 1963, in Houston, Texas. Twenty-six registered nurses together with the covener, Eunice Pointer formed the initial chapter. On November 23, 2013, Zeta Chi Chapter celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in grand fashion. The Zeta Chi Chapter was incorporated by the State of Texas in 1988. In April of 2010, the chapter was granted 501C (3) status as a non-profit/exempt organization (Charitable and Educational Fund). The chapter has hosted the National Meeting (Boule’) in 1973 and 1989. The Zeta Chi Chapter has hosted the Middlesouth Regional Meeting in 1978, 1982, 2011 and most recently 2021. Through the years the Zeta Chi Chapter has embarked on many community partnerships and relationships. The Zeta Chi Chapter is truly committed to serving the community as exhibited by our community service in conducting blood pressure screenings, assisting with Covid-19 vaccination clinics, raising funds for March of Dimes and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, awarding scholarships to nursing students at PV A&M University. The Zeta Chi Chapter is in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation, Lupus Foundation of America, National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLB) Heart Truth for Women, Star of Hope Mission, and Covenant House just to name a few.
